From 2006 to 2012, Patrick Ward ran his own sports performance training facility in Phoenix, AZ, where he worked with athletes across a variety of sports, including golf, volleyball, football, soccer and other world-class athletes training for international competition. Patrick earned a Master of Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007, holds NSCA and CSCS certifications and is a licensed massage therapist. Currently Patrick works within the Nike Sports Research Lab in Portland, OR, where he works with some of the greatest athletes in the world and helps Nike collect sports performance insights.

Patrick maintains an active blog, www.optimumsportsperformance.com, where he frequently writes about his thoughts and ideas in the world of health and human performance.

Dr. John P. Sullivan is a Clinical Sport Psychologist and Applied Sport Scientist.
He has over twenty years of applied sport psychology and sport science experience; and for the past 15 years, he has worked with the same team in the NFL for their coordination of clinical care and human performance technology. Dr. Sullivan maintains similar relationships in the National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, British Premier Soccer League, The English Football Association, Premier Rugby League, and Olympic national teams.


He is an expert consultant for the Elite Performers of the Military in regard to both welfare and performance needs As the Clinical Sport Psychologist/Sport Scientist for Providence College as University of Rhode Island he maintains positions in Sport Medicine and Sport Science. He is also the Assistant Director of the South County Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic in Wakefield, Rhode Island. He serves as an Instructor and Supervisor for Brown University Medical School and their Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Sullivan is one of five national experts identified by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to provide expert contribution for new guidelines for the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook, and he is the co-lead author for the interdisciplinary consensus statement regarding the treatment of mental health issues with student-athletes, which is sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the NCAA.


Dr. Sullivan is a frequent contributor writing on sport science and sports medicine for peer review journals and popular press. He will be co-authoring two forthcoming chapters; the first on the merging of technology, neuroscience, biofeedback, and sport/performance psychology in Sport psychology: On the way to the Olympic Games and the second chapter focusing on well-being and mental health issues in athletes within Fundamental concepts in sport and exercise psychology: A project sponsored by the International Society of Sport Psychology due out June 2014. He is also the co-editor of a manuscript examining the science of Recovery Training from a multidisciplinary approach which includes some of the most experienced applied sport scientists from NFL, NHL, Premiere Soccer, Premier Rugby, Olympic Training Programs, and Collegiate Sports. He was the 2010 recipient of the Rhode Island Athletic Trainers Association Service Award for distinguished service and education in the area of sports medicine.


Dr. Sullivan is a national and international practitioner-researcher who conducts central nervous system (CNS) measurement/assessment, performance optimization, testing, talent selection, recovery training, and concussion assessment/rehabilitation.

Matt Herring joined the San Antonio Spurs in 2011 as the team’s Director of Athletic Performance. He was part of two successful seasons with the organization that resulted in a Western Conference Finals appearance during his first campaign and an NBA Finals loss last season.

Herring came to San Antonio after spending seven years as the strength and conditioning coordinator for the University of Florida men’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf , and men’s and women ‘s tennis programs. He was an integral part of the Gators back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. Prior to his stint in Gainesville, he helped the Oklahoma State Cowboys men’s basketball program reach the 2004 Final Four. He arrived at Oklahoma State University after spending two years as an intern at the University of Texas.

Herring earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise sports science from Southwest Texas in 1994. He achieved his M.Ed. in kinesiology from the University of Texas in May of 2002. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and USA Weightlifting. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a Certified Sports Performance Coach.

Jason DeMayo is in his 10th year as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Richmond, and his eighth year working with the men's basketball team.

DeMayo is directly responsible for the strength training, conditioning and flexibility development of the men and women's basketball teams. He also educates the student-athletes on the proper nutrition to make sure their bodies are performing to their full potential.

Jay has presented at 10 different seminars and clinics in five different states and has coached and lectured for a month at Ningbo University in China.

Brandon Bovee currently serves as the strength and conditioning coach for HC Lev Prague of the KHL.  Prior to this season, Bovee spent 2 seasons working for HC Dinamo Minsk of  the KHL. Prior to coming to KHL,  Bovee was an intern for Sean Skahan of the Anaheim Ducks during 2010-2011 season.
